Like it I do. A lot

Whats right? the piano theme, the latin type percussion, the synths all beautiful and working well togtether.

Whats wrong? the open hihat, the drums in general-undermixed and over programmed. although the 808 style kit itself is a nice departure from the usual sounds kick and snare wise.

What would make it better? rethink the drum programming and try a kick/bass sidechain setup (google it) lose the dodgy open hi-hat, try a synth swell accentuate your changes instead. the bass is a little lost in an otherwise well balanced mix. try pulling out some of the low end on your synths to make some room for it.

I love the overall vibe of this track and would love to hear it transformed into the Star it deserves to become. You clearly have a natural feel for this type of music and would do well build your production skills to suit.

Thank you! That's exactly what I need, as I'm still rather inexperienced and my knowledge of all the possibilities may, in some cases, be insufficient. Also, I only have a laptop computer so I'm not really capable of any really really high-quality work, as I don't even have proper speakers, just cheap headphones hence the bit unbalanced mix.

I am willing to take your advice and tweak this song, but I'm quite careful and afraid of ruining it, as I like it very much as well. Let's see what happens...

always burn a backup and stash it elsewhere first.. that's the beauty of computer based music production-things can be infinitely dissolved and reconstituted in the process of experimenting with the colors that will ultimately define ones art.

nothing can be ruined if you make backup first (preferably kept in a different physical location to the original(I send stuff to my mum from time to time))

I do make backups yes, I just meant that more than going to the right direction with the changes, I would take steps backwards by trying too much.

I now changed the OP to the new version. I'm not sure if I went after all the things that you preferred to be changed, but you have to remember it's still my music and if someone took everyone's opinions into account he would end up with something very generic and blank of emotion. However, never should anyone ignore those who ultimately are those who may eventually make one famous. It's not fame I'm after, It's the feeling of doing something worthwhile and even if just 2 others liked my stuff, I'd be very very happy.
